@Noob: Torrent traffic is easy to track from anywhere around the world and to log and/or interdict at your internet provider. Apparently there is a public site in Russia that keeps records of torrent traffic and the Internet addresses involved, just to prove how non-anonymous it is.

Until now, every legal notice or action involving end users involved torrents.

Some folk have told me torrents are ok for them because of how their country's laws work.

One last note: Torrents open up additional charges of being someone who distributes material, not just someone who downloads, based on how torrents work.

Malware is an issue if you are downloading software to install or execute, not so much for media files.

Depe nds where you are, but due to recent events, they are probably monitoring more closely. Just like downloading anything really, just gotta know your sources.. nyaa is a start for public, and baka-bt for private.
